I am a mother of 3 boys and wife of Andy. We have been married for almost 12 years; my boys are 10, 9 and 5. Andy has been highly involved in sports all of his life along with his brothers. As he has gotten older, he has started coaching; first were during college years for his younger brother’s baseball team and we dated during this time. Since having our boys who have been involved in some version of sports, he has again started coaching them in both baseball (from t-ball to travel team) and in basketball.
During this time, I noticed that when someone is in agreement with his coaching choices, it impacts how they respond to me in the stands. I’d like to give my day to day perspective from being a coach’s wife.
First, I am not an expert. I am married to a man who volunteers to coach and I am a mother of players. Secondly, I know there are millions of wives of coaches; some may agree and some may not – and that is fine. My goal is to show the support i have for my husband and my son’s teams and to offer support to mom’s during the time of youth sports. Our children are young for such a short time that I hope they can be supported in all they do.
